The Luddy Business Office oversees post-award compliance and grant account management. While traditionally focused on grant compliance, the Luddy Business Office’s post-award team also provides support for faculty research and departmental accounts.
As part of the post-award services, we provide:
Faculty Support & Communication
- Meet with faculty to review new awards, upcoming closures, and financial reporting requirements (e.g., RPPRs)
- Hold regular check-ins to discuss account activity, develop spending plans, and answer questions
- Communicate new or updated university and sponsor policies related to account management
- Provide individualized guidance on the use of research and departmental accounts
Financial Oversight
- Monitor all account types (grant, faculty research, and departmental) to ensure spending aligns with budget and policy
- Review and validate that expenses are allowable, allocable, and reasonable
- Assist with the review and planning of large purchases (e.g., capital equipment)
- Investigate and help resolve issues such as payroll errors or charges on incorrect accounts
- Provide account balances, financial projections, and spending guidance upon request
Compliance & Administration
- Coordinate with ORA on contracts, subawards, and compliance matters
- Serve as the primary contact for all account-related questions across account types
- Assist with no-cost extension requests and award relinquishments
- Support faculty with grant-related financial reporting (e.g., RPPRs)
- Ensure compliance reviews are completed for required project reports
- Prepare accounts for closeout, ensuring all expenditures and commitments are resolved
